La semana pasada muchos erasmus nos fuimos a Maastricht a pasar los carnavales.
Lo pasamos muy bien alli, y fue muy divertido ver como los holandeses salian locos en estas fiestas!!!!!!!Si hasta se puede beber en la calle!!!!

A turkey in Lent????

El otro dia estaba en la cocina cuando empece a escuchar algo de ajetreo. Cuando me asome me quede flipando: HABIA UN PAVO SUELTO EN LENT!!!!!!!!!
Por supuesto, teniendo en cuenta lo cara que esta aqui la carne y los kilos que tendria que pesar el amigo, se nos ocurrieron miles de formas de cazarlo, aunque al final lo unico que hicimos fue cebarlo:P

Of course, and taking into account how expensive meat is in the Netherlands, and how much it should weight, we came out with thousands of ways of hunting it, but in the end we just fed it:P

No os pasa? Eso de que a veces haya algo que automáticamente os dispare un recuerdo o una emoción?
Y en el caso de los recuerdos de vuestro erasmus? Os pasa más a menudo? a mi sí:
- El pollo al curry: automáticamente trae a mi mente la cocina de mi piso en lent
- El olor a hierba mojada: el cesped y los caballos de lent...
- La pepsi: Miriam pasando la resaca en el balcón...
- el rexona for men: mi ducha de lent
- y así miles, lo que pasa es que ahora no me acuerdo de mas...

Primero de todo perodn por haber estado desconectado del blog, pero entre que no tengo tiempo para nada y que la conexion en Lent es mas que deseable, no he puesto nada.
Estas dos semanas han sido durillas para todos los erasmus, tanto para los que nos quedamos como los que nos vamos, ya que hay gente que no va a volver.
Cuando me decian los ex-erasmus que hacias una familia en tu destino, es totalmente cierto. Los momentos que pasas con la gente son inolvidables, y aunque la despedida es dura, merece muchisimo la pena.
Aqui os dejo un video que hicieron dos amigas mias, Elena y Elisa, ambas de madrid, ambas dos personas maravillosas. En el se ven muchas fotos y diferentes momentos de la erasmus en Njimegen, espero que lo disfruteis. Muchas gracias por todo y mucha suerte!!!!!

Sorry for being totally out of the blog for such long time, but I am always doing things and besides, Lent´s internet conexion is quite awful.
These two past weeks have been a bit difficult for the erasmus here, since lot of people have already gone. It´s true when ex-erasmus tell you that you build a family there, and when some people are left it is really sad.
However, it is really really worth knowing all these people, because the moments spent with them have no price.
The following video was made by two friends, Elisa and Elena, both from Madrid, both great people. Hope you enjoy it, it includes pictures from different moments of our erasmus in Nijmegen. Thanks for everything!

Elecciones 9 de Marzo 2008 España
Hola tod@s los erasmus y demás expatriados españoles que estén interesados en como votar en las próximas elecciones generales del 9 de Marzo del 2008, el otro día nos llego al blog un comentario dandonos información sobre como votar desde el extranjero, concretamente una información de izquierda unida para erasmus, que se puede aplicar a demás expatriados.

Two Years Ago / Hace dos años
Two Years Ago Our erasmus experience began ...Happy Anniversary Jaime!!
the 16th of january of 2006 was the first time that we saw Nijmegen (what an erasmus paradise!! Lent Rules!)
If I will have time I will try to write more about how I see now all this experience.

Consejos / Tips
Aprovechando que hace 2 años que muchos de nosotros preparábamos nuestro viaje a Nijmegen (o estábamos ya alli), pongo algunos consejitos a la gente que esté en la misma situación
- Si voláis a Schipol (el de Amsterdam), podéis coger el tren desde allí directamente a Nijmegen, es el que pasa por Utrech, Ede-Wageningen y Arnhem. Tampoco estoy muy seguro de esto, así que podéis verlo mejor en www.ns.nl
- Cuando estéis en la estación, tenéis que ir a la oficina de relaciones internacionales. Podéis coger un bus (saliendo de la estación, a la derecha), creo que es el 10 (o el que pone Radboud), aunque después de la paliza del viaje, recomiendo coger un taxi (no es barato), te deja en la puerta de la oficina. Allí os comentarán un poco cómo va todo, y os mandarán a la oficina de housing, donde os dan las llaves de casa.
- Para la gente q vaya a la residencia que está en Lent, tenéis un supermercado, el Jan Linders, volviendo en dirección al pueblo desde la resi. Son unos 15 minutos andando.
- Pillaros bici cuanto antes, de segunda mano están entre 30 y 50 euros (por lo menos hace 2 años)
- Disfrutar a tope, no habrá otra igual, que envidia me dáis :)

It's been 2 years since most of us where preparing our trip to Nijmegen (or we were just arrived in there), i write some tips for those who are in the same situation:
-If you are flying to Schipol (the one of Amsterdam), you can take the train from there, directly to Nijmegen, it's the one which stops in Utrech, Ede-Wageningen and Arnhem. Anyway, i'm not pretty sure of this, so check the schedules in www.ns.nl
- Once you are at the Nijmegen station, you have to go to the international relations office. You can take a bus (just turn right when you go out of the station), I think is the 10 (or the one to Radboud). But after the tiring journey, i suggest you to take a taxi (not cheap), it will leave you just in front of the office. Once there, they'll tell you what's all about, and send you to the housing office, where you'll receive your keys, finally!!
- For people living in Lent, there's a supermarket, Jan Linders, it's 15 minutes (by foot) far from the complex, going towards the village.
- Find a bike as soon as you can, second hand ones cost around 30 - 50 € (at least 2 years ago)
- Enjoy the experience at max, there won't be a second one, I envy all of you!! :)

Bueno comentarte que creo que hay mucha gente ahora por allí, lo único que yo por ejemplo ya no estoy por allí desde hace tiempo, de todas formas puedes contactar con el ISN de allí que es el grupo de gente que lleva todo el tema de los estudiantes internacionales en Nijmegen y así seguro que conoceras bastante gente :

Es Bueno Nijmegen para ir de Erasmus?
El otro día llego este comentario al blog :
hola soy una chica de pamplona que el año que viene me voy de eramus.una posibilidad es nijmegen.¿me podrias contar un poco sobre la forma de vida,la universidad,fiestas,gente,alojamiento..de todo un poco ?

Alba dice: Nijmegen?? No he conocido sitio mejor para viir un Erasmus!! La gente genial, los bares de PM y los puentes un buen sitio para pararse a bailar!!! No dudaría ni medio segundo en volver a ese paraiso...
Sebas dice: Alojamiento hay residencias y es bueno, la gente erasmus muy bien de todo un poco, para mi erasmus en nijmegen ha sido una de las partes más importantes de mi vida. FIESTAS MUCHAS, la forma de vida VIDA ERASMUS ;D;D . En la Universidad son exigentes, no se aprueba fácil como pasa en otros sitios te tienes que ganar el aprobao.

5. why Netherlands, why Nijmegen? / ¿Por que Holanda, y porque Nijmegen? I wanted to have a job experience in Europe to add up more value in my career path and be more competitive than anyone else. Luckily I got an internship offer from a logistics company in Nijmegen to manage my own project.
6. The best parties of the year? /¿La mejor/mejores fiestas del año?
Uff, I cannot remember the names. I just remember that everyone was on sale. Maybe the Auction Party?? :P
7. What is Lent for you?/ ¿Que es para ti Lent?
The first place I've been totally secluded from my culture. I had a very peaceful days with lots of various people around. Sometimes I also had very crazy experiences, but all was worthy for me. I got to know very good friends through this place and this place I stayed will always stay in my memory as a very important part of my life.
8. The best moment of your erasmus... / ¿El mejor momento de tu Erasmus?
I guess, it should be my job experience question here. The business trip to Helsinki was the best part of my job. I got to know another part of the world again through this experience. It was damn cold but I had a great experience by being in a huge logistics exhibition. I met Europeans through business opportunity and it increases my skill to deal professionally with people from different culture. It was worth than any classes you can take in a university.

Do it!!! Be a dreamer when you still can. A book says, the whole world is actually trying to help you to achieve something that you really really want. Be ambitious and try to make the whole world as your home ground. Have the guts and good luck to you all!

oyeeeee yo estoy de Erasmus en Madrid pero voy a pasar una semanan en Holanda poruqe una maiga hace ahi Erasmus pues la voy a ver...el problema es que en los prim,eros dos dias & y el * de noviembre ella tienen examenes...y yo ya billete de avion comprado!! si hay algun erasmus que en estas fechas tendra tiempo libre y le apetecia quedar o a lo mejor organizar algun viajecito por holanda yo encantada:)
